### COMMENTARY ON DISTINCTION X.

#### *On the ministry of the Angels.*

*This too must be investigated* etc.

### DIVISION OF THE TEXT.

Above, the Master treated of the things that follow upon the confirmation of the Angels as regards the distinction of the orders; but in this part he treats [of them] as regards [their] ministry. And since ministry has a relation both to the one who ministers and to the one to whom ministry is rendered, this part therefore has two [sections]. In the first he determines concerning the ministry of the Angels as regards the ministering Angels themselves. In the second he determines by comparison to men, to whom they minister, below in the eleventh distinction: *This too must be known* etc.

The first part, in which he asks to which Angels it belongs to minister or to be sent, has three parts. In the first he sets down differing opinions together with their confirmations. In the second part he raises doubts and determines [them], there: *Here a question arises, if all are sent and exist as messengers of God.* In the third part he brings those two opinions back to a certain concord, forming as it were out of the two one opinion, midway between both, there: *But others say that the three highest orders* etc. The subdivisions of these parts are manifest in the text.

### TREATMENT OF THE QUESTIONS.

For the understanding of this part a question arises here, concerning three matters.

The first question is whether the good Angels are sent. Secondly it is asked, to what they are sent. Thirdly it is asked, in what manner they carry out that office.

Concerning the first, two [questions] are asked. First it is asked whether any Angels are sent. Secondly it is asked whether all are sent.
