## COMMENTARY ON DISTINCTION III.

### Part II.

#### *Whether the flesh of Christ was tithed in Abraham.*

*But since that flesh, whose excellence etc.*

### DIVISION OF THE TEXT.

Above the Master showed in what manner the blessed Virgin was sanctified, from whom the flesh of Christ was assumed. But in this part, for the sake of fuller understanding, he inquires whether the flesh of Christ was tithed in Abraham. Now this part is divided into three parts. In the first of these the Master inquires whether the flesh of Christ could have been tithed, or ought to have been, in Abraham. In the second, after the determination of this, he draws a certain conclusion, namely that the flesh of Christ was not flesh of sin, there: *Wherefore it is rightly said to have assumed the first-fruits of our mass.* In the third and last he resolves a certain doubt concerning the formation of the Lord's body, there: *But those opinions.* The subdivisions of the parts, however, are manifest in the text.

### TREATMENT OF THE QUESTIONS.

For the understanding of this part, in accordance with the three things which the Master determines, a question arises here.

First, it is asked concerning the tithing of Christ.

Second, it is asked concerning the propagation of Christ's flesh.

Third, it is asked concerning the formation of the Lord's body.

Concerning the first, two questions are asked.

First, it is asked whether anyone can be tithed in his forebears.

Second, it is asked whether Christ was tithed in Abraham.
