## COMMENTARY ON DISTINCTION L.

**Part I.**

### *On the state of the damned after the judgement.*

*Here a question arises drawing its origin from what has gone before, etc.*

### DIVISION OF THE TEXT.

Above the Master treated of the state of the Blessed. In this part he treats of the state of the damned: *first*, after the judgement; *secondly*, before the judgement, there: *Besides, it is customary to ask whether the souls of the reprobate* etc.

The first part has two [parts]. In the first he determines the subversion of the will; in the second, the blinding of the reason, there: *Here it can be asked: why those darknesses* etc. And each part has two [members]. In the first he raises the objection, in the second he in fact resolves it.

### TREATMENT OF THE QUESTIONS.

For the understanding of this part, according to the two things which the Master touches upon, two things are principally asked.

*First*, inquiry is made concerning the subversion of the will of the damned.

*Secondly*, concerning the blinding of the reason.

Concerning the first, three things are asked.

*First*, it is asked whether the damned will that they had sinned.

*Secondly*, whether by a deliberative will the damned would rather not be, than be thus.

*Thirdly*, whether the damned would rather that all were damned, than that some were damned and some beatified.
